Karissa Smith is Research Project Coordinator in Dr. Jay Silverman’s lab and provides support to the Evaluation of the Close to Home Sexual Violence Prevention Program in California and the Evaluation of Best Practices in Rape Prevention Education in California. They received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Western Oregon University. Karissa previously worked as a domestic violence advocate and violence prevention coordinator where they specialized in supporting QTPOC and college survivors. Karissa also has a background in conducting community-engaged and qualitative research. Karissa is interested in sexual assault prevention, health disparities, and racial trauma. Outside of work, Karissa enjoys gardening, cooking gluten-free meals, and playing the piano.
