Amy Vatne Bintliff is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Education Department at the University of California, San Diego. She holds a PhD. in Human Development from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as well as a Master’s in Education from Hamline University, Minneapolis. Bintliff conducts research and advocacy around several global health issues including ending human trafficking, human trafficking prevention education, and the development of programs that sustain and affirm the lifelong well-being of women and girls who have experienced trauma. She specifically studies how girls define and experience well-being in the face of trauma. In addition, Bintliff continues to research and advocate for the prevention of violence in schools associated with gender, gender identity, and homophobia. Bintliff’s research methods include Community-Based Participatory Research, phenomenology, grounded theory, and mixed methods.
