Leslie Gautsch is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. Before pursuing her doctorate, she was a public school teacher in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Her research explores the politics of education related to educational policy making and policy implementation, particularly concerning migrant students and English Learners. As a predoctoral research fellow at UCSD”s Center on Gender Equity and Health, she is involved with projects that highlight socio-contextual factors that influence the education and schooling of children throughout the world.
