Global Family Planning Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation Consortium

Background
Despite notable progress in family planning (FP) and reproductive health outcomes across Africa and South Asia, significant challenges persist. Weak monitoring, learning, and evaluation (MLE) systems further compound these issues, hindering sustained progress and limiting the effectiveness of interventions.

What We’re Doing
To address gaps in family planning MLE, the Consortium will develop assets and provide support to improve the availability, quality, and consistency of family planning monitoring data being used across a set of program and evaluation partners working in Africa and South Asia. The Global FP MLE Consortium will build partnerships to use improved monitoring data and other datasets to generate new analysis, research, and insights to inform policy, investment, and programming.

Approach
The Global FP MLE Consortium will strengthen family planning MLE by:

  • Partnering with FP organizations to analyze existing program monitoring and survey data, Analyzing existing public datasets and conducting evidence reviews to answer priority research
    questions,
  • Hosting in-country convenings to foster local engagement, ownership, and cross-project learning, and
  • Hosting global convenings to maintain momentum for innovation and funding in the face of rollbacks in sexual and reproductive health.

Impact and What We’re Learning
The Global FP MLE Consortium aims to:

  • Improve buy-in for cross-cutting metrics and analysis,
  • Improve the availability, quality, and consistency of family planning monitoring data being used across a set of family planning organizations and evaluation partners,
  • Generate new partnerships and new analysis and use of programmatic data,
  • Inform investing and programming with research and data analysis, and
  • Expand coordination, trust, and engagement across family planning partners in Africa and South Asia.
