Postdoctoral Fellow Position

The Center on Gender Equity and Health at UC San Diego is searching for a postdoctoral fellow to assist in designing and coordinating three large, multi-year studies on gender-based violence, family planning, and social networks and norms (funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the U.S. CDC) under the direction of Drs. Jay Silverman and Holly Shakya. The major objectives of these studies are 1) assessment and quantitative analyses of social networks as they relate to changes in family planning use and norms in rural Niger; 2) scaling and evaluation of a clinic-based program to reduce reproductive coercion, IPV, and unintended pregnancy in Kenya in partnership with the Ministry of Health; and 3) an evaluation of a community organizing approach to the prevention of sexual violence across the state of California utilizing mixed methods, inclusive of quantitative social media analysis.  The candidate must have completed a doctorate in public health or related field, possess strong quantitative analysis skills, be conversational in French, have experience coordinating complex projects, and (once the COVID-19 crisis allows) be able to travel internationally, and physically relocate to San Diego (most likely in the first quarter of 2021). The selected postdoctoral fellow will be reviewed annually, with the duration of the appointment being up to three years. Interested individuals should send a brief cover letter and CV to Dr. Silverman at jgsilverman@health.ucsd.edu.
